SSH has locked the doors. As of Monday Feb. 4th. I know it don't come as a big surprise. Jerry EMAILED, all of the employes and terminated them. Says they are trying to "restructure" how funny is that? As for the students they will notify the students once a final decision is made. In other words we are all SCREWED. This all sucks....

Just caught this on the news today, this will be something to watch and see where this will go. I still haven't heard back from the head office about my case. I quit the school after 11 weeks, and want to know if I still owe. Not sure if we're all screwed, though......?
    • In my opinion,
I think Jerry decided to take the money and run. Many of thought it wasn't a matter of if the bottom was gonna fall out but rather when.
Lee, I don't mean to be a dick here but you were screwed the day you signed the papers and I think all of the students there now are gonna be screwed. Bankrupcy is a sticky thing cause when you file for your freeing responsabilities for any debits. At least that's what I think it means. The only way to recoup is to sue. Depending on the corporate structure, Jerry can sheild himself from liability and I'm sure he's was smart enough to do that. So for anyone to get their money back your gonna have to sue SSH. That is going to take years and with a bankrupcy it may not be possible.
If you guys have read my post then you know where I stand on SSH. I like to think I give a little benefit of the doubt, but all evidence, to me, points to the conclusion that Jerry just wants out. He doesn't want the headache anymore, he's made a shit ton of money and now it's time to fold this and move on or retire early.
  • I'm sure there are 100s, maybe 1000s of students and employees of SSH who have a sob story - and I'm one of them. A fellow student at the San Diego (Gillespie Field) location is trying to organize a class action law suit. I'd do it myself, but in the last 2 months I've lost 2 family members and my job, so I have other priorities right now. Anyway, it would be great to see more action, less whining and bickering. Let's organize, stick together and stick to the facts. I don't think most of us have many facts about the company, or Jerry, but it sure seems as though they at LEAST disseminated a lot of misleading information. Now that we don't need worry about "retaliation" from SSH, since they don't employ and are not hiring anyone, let's get the facts and, if they show the company or its management was in the wrong and/or broke laws, let's go for the jugular.

There is nothing good about what has happened to the students, instructors, and employees of Silver State. I had the opportunity to work along side some of the guys that had trained there and dearly paid their dues to become working commercial pilots. They were from all walks of life and they were living their dreams. It is so very sad that so many innocent people have to be hurt by a company that ultimately did not deliver what it said it would. It is not a fault to have a dream or to try to improve ourselves. It is unfortunate that for whatever reason this was allowed to occur.
The damage goes even deeper than that which is on the surface. One of the operating companies that Silver State purchased about a year ago and said they intended to improve and allow to run as it was has also been closed down. The employees, suppliers, and customers of that company are also experiencing losses that were not brought on by themselves. I don't know how the principals of Silver State can sleep at night or hold their heads up when they walk down the street knowing the devastation they have taken part in. To make things even worse, saying that they are still trying to put something back together, after firing all the employees and locking out all the students, just adds to the agony. I never had a warm fuzzy feeling about the hype driven operation in the first place. Still I cannot help to feel the pain that our fellow helicopter pilots are experiencing. Any of us could have just as easily been a victim of this terrible situation. My hope is that they somehow recover from this awful mess. I would like to suggest that anyone that can assist any of these people in any way do what ever they can to try to lend a hand during their time of need. Though I am not sure how we can help, if we can, we should.
