Still I suppose people don't realize what's actually involved until they've got rsi from being in the right hand seat for the first 30 mins ;-) -

Fri, January 13, 2006 - 12:43 PMI think some people think that they are superior to other people, and should be able to handle an aircraft. Maybe he was a fixed wing pilot and ignorantly thought "how hard can it be?" and then he found out. Since the Schweizer cost $250,000 and a near death experience, I'm sure a Darwin award is appropriate.
Some of the best pilots took 30 hours in a heli before they could hover well. That alone should be a clue.
Also, the helicopter does not come with an instruction manual, I'm sure that's on purpose. One guy sued the maker of his motor home when he set the cruise control and went in the back to make coffee, and subsequently crashed. Idiot.
