I'm being introduced to new maneuvers without really having a lot of practice on them, but I'm making baby steps every time. Burning money like it's kindling. :)
I did rapid descents with power today. This is necessary if a major warning light comes on, such as a low fuel light and you need to get down pretty quick. I was over a very hilly area so finding a flat spot was tricky. Ideally you would already know what flat spot you would use before the warning light even comes on.
Dropping collective way down (smoothly and not too fast) while maintaining 60 kts, doing a flare up and a set down. Right between two little hills.
I did okay patterns, approaches, take-offs and landings today. They're not always pretty yet but I'm getting much better. I can hover okay even while talking to the ground and tower on the radio. This is a lot harder than it sounds for most newbies. I get elated when I feel even slightly less freaked than my last attempt at something.
Next lesson tomorrow: my first Autorotations.
